website show tell

Class Tuesday, February 26, 2019

 Today’s goals:

  • Update your portfolio on the class website with screenshots of your webpage project
  • Complete this survey  about the webpage project
  • Participate in a website show and tell
  • Begin discussing website accessibility

 Today’s featured site:

  • http://www.patience-is-a-virtue.org/ – Look at the code and see if you can figure out how long it will take before another message appears. Can you see the other messages? What happens at the very end?

 Finishing up your webpage project

  1. Update your portfolio:
    Log in here: http://mhswebdesign.com/coders
User name: first and last name
Password: whatever you set (check your phone or maybe the browser saved it; if you can’t get in I can reset it)
Find your page: click Pages on the left menu and then search for your page in the search box on the right; click on your name
Screen shots: use snipping tool in start menu; save and upload to your page as images
  2. Project reflection:
Complete this survey  about the webpage project
  3. Show and tell
Partner up with another person- check out each page of their site and have them check out yours. Do you have questions or suggestions for improvement?
Whole class- leave your project open and we will all walk around and check out each other’s pages

 Website accessibility

  • Write down answers to the following somewhere (computer, phone, paper). We will share together as a group in a few minutes.
    1. What senses and skills are needed to access a website (site, touch, literacy, etc.)?
    2. Who might have trouble accessing a website and why?
    3. Why is it important to make your website accessible to as many people as possible?
